Why Most DEI Initiatives Fail

You may have heard the saying “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” That's because Transformational change doesn’t start with strategy, It starts with relationships and ends with strategy

A strategic approach to change is essential, and most strategic plans are developed with the best of intentions. Yet so often these plans reproduce the very problems they are designed to solve. The urgency to correct injustice is a noble aim, but the “rush to action” can cause more harm than good.

Transformational change begins with healthy relationships. Essential groundwork has to be laid before change can be effective. Key leaders must develop a set of inclusivity skills. These skills empower them to listen with empathy, build relationships across differences, and cultivate trust on their teams.

When leaders demonstrate this skill set, a culture of engagement and belonging cascades throughout the organization.
